EXCERPT FROM THE UNIFORM RULES AND REGULATIONS OF PARISHES regarding membership

ARTICLE 26

Every person baptized and chrismated in the Orthodox Church is a parishioner and member of the church-school community in the territory where they reside; who fulfills religious obligations toward the Church and who lives a moral and Christian life, according to the teachings of the Orthodox Church; participates in the Divine Liturgy and other services; regularly receives communion; respects church authorities; is obedient in matters of faith, teaching, and church order; helps the Church materially and financially in its mission; who is an active witness and example to others in confessing the Orthodox faith and tradition. According to the Constitution, a church-school community is an organized religious community of parishioners in a specific area with a priest at the head, who have voluntarily committed to help in the administration and maintenance of local church property for the benefit of the Church and for their religious life. These parishioners, as full parishioners, have the right to participate and vote at assemblies, as well as the right to be nominated and elected to the Board of Directors and as delegates to the Diocesan Annual Assembly and Church Council. To be a full parishioner and have the rights and privileges mentioned above in the Rules and Regulations, a parishioner must at least:

a) Fulfill all religious and moral obligations mentioned above.

b) Be at least 18 years old.

c) Be in good standing in fulfilling financial or stewardship obligations.

d) Be governed by the rules provided and established in the Uniform Rules and Regulations and local bylaws (Addendum).

e) Cooperate in every respect for the good and progress of the parish.

All church-school communities shall apply procedures and maintain records so that the priest and Board of Directors can establish the status of parishioners regarding the conditions established in the Rules and Regulations relating to the status of full parishioners. Full parishioners in registry books and other documents may be called members or stewards or similar titles.
In case the parish has not yet received the status of a church-school community, the same conditions listed in point two (2) shall apply to full parishioners.

ARTICLE 27

A person who is not qualified for full parishioner status or who has been excluded has the right to appeal. The appeal is submitted to the Diocesan Board of Directors through the Board of Directors of the Church-School Community, within fourteen (14) days, starting from the day the applicant received the decision of the Board of Directors of the church-school community. The decision of the Diocesan Board of Directors is final and binding for both parties.
No one can be a member of more than one church-school community or parish.

ARTICLE 28

Upon fulfilling the conditions from article twenty-six (26), a new full parishioner of the church-school community acquires the rights and privileges listed in article twenty-six (26) and other places in the Rules and Regulations, after six (6) months.

ARTICLE 29

If a full parishioner moves from the area of one parish to another, their membership is valid in the new parish, that is, the new church-school community, and continues.
